Earl VanBuskirk, DVM, Owner

We are so excited to introduce you to the owner, and veterinarian behind Belfair Animal Clinic and share a little about the journey that brought him back to Belfair!

Dr. Earl grew up right here in Belfair, on the Davis Farm. His passion for animals began at an early age, raising pigs and chickens and participating in 4-H. When he wasn't on the farm, Earl was busy at North Mason High School, where he played soccer, wrestled, and ran cross country. He graduated as valedictorian in 1999. Our logo, is blue for a reason!

After high school, Earl continued his education at Washington State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Zoology with honors in 2003, followed by his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2007.

His veterinary career took him on quite an adventure. After graduating from WSU, Earl completed an internship in Marathon, Florida, where he cared for everything from dogs and cats to crocodiles, sea turtles, and even a few iguanas! After a year in Florida, he returned to the Pacific Northwest, eventually working in emergency medicine and spending a short time in Australia before joining Columbia Veterinary Hospital in Tacoma.

It was at Columbia that Earl met his wife, Trish. They married and welcomed their daughter in 2016. As their family grew, Earl wanted a career that offered a better work-life balance. He left private practice to serve as a supervisory public health veterinarian with the USDA. During his seven years with the USDA, Earl advanced to supervising FSIS operations across much of Western Washington and Alaska.

In 2023, Earl returned to private practice and partnered with another veterinarian to purchase Central Valley Animal Hospital.

Then, in 2026, an opportunity arose to bring veterinary care back to the community he grew up in. When property became available in the heart of Belfair, Earl poured his time, energy, and heart into creating Belfair Animal Clinic.

Today, he is excited to offer veterinary care to the town he has always called home.

Over the years, Earl has seen many changes in veterinary medicine. He believes pets deserve high-quality care, but he also understands that every family has different circumstances and priorities.

His approach is to work with each family to determine which tests and treatments are most appropriate, always keeping the pet's quality of life and the family's needs in mind. He believes good medicine means providing thoughtful options, clear communication, and compassionate care.

We are incredibly proud to have Dr. Earl serving the community that helped shape him. Stop by Belfair Animal Clinic and meet Dr. Earl and the team. We look forward to caring for your pets for years to come!

Zoe, Licensed Vet Tech / Practice Manager

Zoe was born in Eastern Washington, moved to Alaska and finished school in Montana. She thought she was going to college in Missoula, Montana to become a game warden but her passion for animal care grew during an internship at a wildlife rehabilitation clinic in 2017 and since then she has been working full time in veterinary medicine.

In 2019, she graduated from the University of Montana with a Bachelor’s of Science in Wildlife Biology and decided to move closer to family by planting her roots here in Belfair (and we couldn't be happier!). In 2025, with the support of Dr. Earl, Zoe went on to obtain her Veterinary Technician License. Throughout her career, she has gained experience caring for a variety of patients, including wildlife, exotic species and small animals. Zoe has worked her way up from assistant to technician and now proudly serves as the Practice Manager at Belfair Animal Clinic.

While working with wildlife remains a longtime dream, Zoe finds great joy in helping pets and their people build happy, healthy lives together. She believes that veterinary medicine should never be a one-size-fits-all approach. Every animal, family, and situation is unique, and she believes they all deserve compassion, thoughtful consideration, and the highest quality of care possible.

Zoe lives by a simple “do better” philosophy. She believes that when we each strive to learn, grow, and do just a little better every day, we can create better outcomes for our patients, their families and each other.

Outside of the clinic, Zoe is married to a proud cat person, her husband Doug. They enjoy spending lots of time with their feline companions. While her busy schedule hasn’t yet allowed room for a canine friend of her own, she is always happy to get her dog fix from the wonderful patients she meets at work.

We are so very lucky to have Zoe, and we can't wait for you to meet her tooce.

Taylor, Lead Receptionist

We’d love for you to meet Taylor, rounding out our Veterinary Receptionist team!

Taylor graduated from North Mason High School in 2021. During her time there, she was a dedicated member of North Mason FFA, where she developed a love for animals, the outdoors, and learning about agriculture and veterinary medicine.

After working in various customer service roles, Taylor found her way into the veterinary field in early 2025. She quickly discovered how much she loved veterinary medicine and especially enjoyed getting to know clients, helping their pets, and being there for families when they needed a friendly face.

Having spent much of her later school years growing up in Belfair, Taylor has a special connection to the area. Joining Belfair Animal Clinic has given her the opportunity to do what she loves while caring for the people and pets in a place that feels like home.

As a Veterinary Receptionist, Taylor loves creating a welcoming experience for both pets and their people and making sure every client feels comfortable and cared for.

When she’s not at the clinic, you’ll most likely find Taylor spending time with her family, hanging out with her Labrador named Ruger, or enjoying the outdoors with her fiancé. She loves being outside, making memories with the people she loves, and, of course, spending plenty of time with her four-legged bestie, Ruger.

We’re so happy to have Taylor as part of the Belfair Animal Clinic team and are excited to have her right here at home!

Sydney, Receptionist

Sydney is one of our wonderful Client Service Representatives and a familiar face to many in our community. A North Mason High School graduate from the Class of 2019 (Go Bulldogs!), she loves connecting with people and making everyone who visits feel right at home.

One of Sydney’s favorite parts of her job is getting to know the cats and dogs who visit our clinic and hearing all the stories that make each one special. She enjoys learning their unique personalities and helping both pets and their people feel comfortable, cared for, and welcomed during their visits.

Outside of the clinic, Sydney enjoys life with her fiancé, Wylee, her cat, Letty, and her black Lab, Kona. She has a love for history and enjoys visiting museums and discovering new things. During the summer, she and Wylee especially enjoy spending time with family in Eastern Washington.

We’re so happy and grateful to have Sydney as part of our team!

Donna, Veterinary Assistant

Meet Donna!

For the past two years, Donna has worked as a Veterinary Assistant in the Key Peninsula community and is excited to continue her journey in this role at Belfair Animal Clinic. She looks forward to bringing her experience, compassion, and special soft spot for rescue pets to the team.

Donna brings a unique background in animal care, human healthcare, and outdoor environmental education. Her journey in animal care began in college, volunteering at a bird of prey rehabilitation center in Whatcom County. After graduating, she returned to her family home in Eastern Washington, where she volunteered at a local animal shelter with dogs and cats. She also worked at an outdoor education center, leading youth programs featuring birds of prey, rodents, amphibians, reptiles, and aquatic animals. Donna moved to the Key Peninsula in 2019 and continued her animal welfare work at a local humane society, where she helped coordinate rescue pet transports to connect adoptable animals with homes and support underserved shelters. She also gained valuable patient-care experience working at a human optometry clinic—skills that have translated seamlessly to her role as a Veterinary Assistant. Donna loves continuing to learn and grow and hopes to become a veterinary technician in the future. She believes in meeting people and pets “where they are” and is passionate about providing compassionate, individualized care to every patient who comes through the doors.

Outside of the clinic, Donna loves spending time with her two cats, Henry and Charles, and traveling the world with her fiancé, Richard. Her dad's dog Daisy is featured in her profile picture since the cats are too squirrely for a photo op. She’s also active in community theater throughout Kitsap County as both an actor and director. When she’s not on stage or traveling, you can often find her baking or curled up with a good book.
